EARTH Futures: Working to change the world.
Emily Fintel Kaiser, Executive Director of EARTH Futures, tells us how EARTH Futures is leading the way toward positive transformation in developing regions
In 2021, we launched a competitive Fellowship program to help bridge the gap between university graduation and employment. We seek to accelerate the capacity of graduating Scholars from EARTH and other Mastercard Foundation partner institutions to lead change in agricultural and rural development in Africa.
Thanks to CRUSA’s investment and our community partners’ support, EARTH Futures has established itself as a global center for solutions at EARTH University, and where it has impacted directly and indirectly the lives of tens of thousands of people in rural communities in Latin America and Africa.
With support from the Walmart Foundation, EARTH Futures has developed a model to provide complete comprehensive support to hundreds of organized farmers and farmer organizations in Costa Rica and Guatemala in precision agriculture and access to local markets.
This EARTH-CRUSA project helps guide pujagua corn producers in Guanacaste to adopt sustainable farming practices, incorporate resource-saving technologies and cutting-edge knowledge, access fair markets, and preserve the culture associated with this ancestral crop.
EARTH Futures is EARTH University’s global center for solutions that partners with academic institutions, rural communities, and like-minded partners worldwide to transform rural areas. We structure our efforts around two main pillars –Education for Leadership and Developing Solutions – focusing on Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean.
Inspired by EARTH’s 30 years of knowledge and our partners’ experiences, we seek to transform agricultural education in Latin America and Africa to prepare young leaders to build more sustainable food systems.
We identify, develop, and test innovative solutions to improve quality of life and sustainability in the rural communities of developing countries.
Emily Fintel Kaiser, Executive Director of EARTH Futures, tells us how EARTH Futures is leading the way toward positive transformation in developing regions
In 2017, amidst EARTH University’s strategic-planning, we kept asking ourselves: How can EARTH generate more impact in the world? The answer: EARTH Futures
26 young leaders from Liceo de Pocora de Guácimo (a local high school neighboring EARTH University) are developing business plans to implement in their communities.
The challenges facing rural areas are complex, and at EARTH Futures, we know that we can only overcome them by working hand-in-hand with others. We collaborate with a diverse and growing network of partners in Costa Rica and other countries who share our passion, vision, and values.
